Guilt Free Mom Tip #4 – Act like a 70 year old.
My sister and I always laughed when we would ask my Grandma to go do something and she would say something like, “Well, I can not do dinner on Tuesday, I have a haircut that morning.” As if she could only do one thing a day. However, inevitably, she would stick with her one-outing-a-day schedule. It worked for her…she was 70 years old, after all.
Clearly, I am not asking you to only schedule one thing a day…that is nearly impossible for Moms. However, I ask you to ask yourself not ‘CAN I fit this event into my schedule’ but ‘do I WANT to fit this into my schedule.’ I do realize, we do not always have that option. But there ARE times, when we are just glutton for punishment and try to fit too many things into our day. Then, if any of you are like me, things do not always go according to plan/schedule and you run late, your blood pressure increases, your stress level explodes and productivity and happiness suffer immensely. And who suffers when we are in this state? Hmmm…usually anyone that comes near us, not to mention ourselves!
Think about scheduling one ‘major thing’ a day…not because you are lazy or because you can’t fit it in…just because you WANT to add a little peace into your busy days!
