In a recent Moms group in which I participate, the question was asked, “Who listens to their gut?”
I was amazed at the few hands that shot up. It seems that many Moms consider others’ feelings/opinions more than their own. I understand that we are caretakers by nature and like it when everyone around us is comfortable and at peace. However, at what cost are we pushing our gut feelings so far down, that we are not even sure that we possess a gut feeling?
For those of you who DO follow your gut, kudos! I bet you experience a fair amount of peace in your decision making.
For the rest of you, I gently urge you to try this next time you are struggling with a decision. In ONE sentence or less, write down what your gut is saying. If it is more than one sentence, you are letting the thinking process overwhelm your gut. We so often over analyze, ask too many people for their opinion…all in hopes of attaining a peaceful decision that we can feel good about. However, you have the most important tool within you! Your gut! You just need to turn up the volume!
